Amazon Private Label Consulting

A good product needs to become a well-built Amazon offer.

Private Label success doesn't hinge on a single step. Research, positioning, listings, launch and advertising feed into each other. We build the process with you, from the product opportunity to the first optimisation.

01Private Label as a system

Putting a logo on a product and listing it isn't Private Label.

Private Label is a set of connected decisions, from the product opportunity to the market, from brand to listing and from launch to advertising. A weakness in one layer limits the impact of the others.

Not every product needs every layer at the same depth; we set the scope by product and goal.

Starting point

Product opportunity

Demand, competition and economics

  1. 01Market & competitionExisting offers and customer expectations.
  2. 02PositioningWhy the product will be chosen.
  3. 03BrandTrademark and Brand Registry, where needed.
  4. 04Listing & contentSearch, messaging and images.
  5. 05ComplianceRequirements by product and market.
  6. 06Launch & advertisingLaunch sequence and PPC.
  7. 07OptimisationAdjustments based on early data.

02Product & opportunity research

A product decision starts with a commercial evaluation.

We offer decision support, not a winning-product promise: demand, competition and product economics are assessed together.

  • 01

    Demand signals

Indicators of interest and search behaviour in the category.

  • 02

    Competitive intensity

How many strong listings lead the category.

  • 03

    Existing offers

Similar products, variations and seller structure.

  • 04

    Price environment

The category's price range and pressure.

  • 05

    Differentiation

    Expectations existing products don't meet.

  • 06

    Review & market signals

    Issues and expectations customers highlight.

  • 07

    Product economics

How cost, Amazon fees and price relate.

  • 08

    Category conditions

    Approval, document and compliance requirements.

Competitor research

Understanding competitors informs positioning.

We review leading listings for positioning, price, reviews and content quality, and draw out common customer expectations and differentiation opportunities. Competitor research asks the right questions; it doesn't guarantee market success.

What we review

  • Leading listings
  • Positioning
  • Price
  • Reviews
  • Content quality
  • Customer expectations

Keyword research

The right words need to match the right intent.

We identify and prioritise relevant search terms and search intent. This underpins both the listing structure and the PPC set-up; it doesn't promise a particular ranking.

Where it's used

  • Listing structure
  • PPC set-up
  • Prioritisation

03Positioning & differentiation

Research has to become an Amazon offer.

Positioning makes clear who the product is for, which need it serves and why it differs from competitors. Every title, image and bullet in the listing builds on that decision.

  1. 01Market
  2. 02Customer
  3. 03Competition
  4. 04Product advantage
  5. 05Positioning
  6. 06Listing message

Differentiation starts with the product; the listing makes it visible.

If the product advantage isn't clear, improving the listing has limited effect. That's why we treat positioning together with the product decision.

04Listing & content

Copy and images should carry the same message.

We prepare listing copy, product images, infographics and A+ Content. The scope of creative production, including the number of revisions, depends on the agreed package.

Listing

01

Search and messaging

Listing copy that places keywords naturally and describes the product accurately.

What we prepare

  • Title
  • Bullet points
  • Product description
  • Keyword placement
  • Listing SEO

Images & A+

02

Visual storytelling

Content production that explains the product's features and use visually.

What we produce

  • Product images
  • Infographics
  • A+ Content
  • Consistent visual message

Note

  • A+ generally requires Brand Registry

05Listing infrastructure

The unseen side of a listing has to be set up correctly too.

Product identifiers, category requirements and listing structure connect the product to the right catalogue entry and the right stock.

Amazon's catalogue and identifier rules can vary by category and marketplace, and are assessed for each product.

  • ASIN — New listing or existing ASIN?

The right route depends on whether the product is already in the catalogue.

  • SKU — Stock code

The seller's own code for tracking products and stock.

  • FNSKU — FBA label

The Amazon label that matches FBA stock to the seller.

  • GTIN — UPC / EAN / GTIN

Product identifier requirements and how to use them correctly.

  • Exempt — GTIN exemption

Possible for some branded products without barcodes; approval is Amazon's.

  • Category — Category conditions

Some categories can require extra approval or documents.

07Launch

A launch is a sequence, not a date.

We plan the launch sequence once listing, stock and advertising preparation come together.

  1. 01

    Listing readiness

Content, images and product identifiers are complete.

  2. 02

    Stock readiness

FBA shipment and prep requirements are planned; transport is with the providers you choose.

  3. 03Brand Registry

Where eligible, brand tools are prepared before launch.

  4. 04

    Vine

Considered for eligible products, under Amazon's rules.

  5. 05

    PPC launch

The first campaign structure goes live.

  6. 06

    Early monitoring

Early signals are tracked and adjustments planned.

Frequently Asked Questions

About Amazon Private Label

See all questions
Do I need a product before starting?

No. If you're still deciding on a product, we can start with opportunity, competitor and keyword research. If your product is ready, we focus on positioning, listings and launch.

Do you do product research?

Yes. We assess demand signals, competition, existing offers, the price environment and product economics to support your decision. It's a commercial evaluation, not a guarantee of sales or profit.

Do you create listing images and infographics?

Yes, product image and infographic production is part of our Private Label scope. The number of images and revisions depends on the agreed package.

Do you create A+ Content?

Yes, we produce A+ Content. A+ Content generally requires the brand to be enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry, and scope depends on the package.

Is PPC included?

PPC set-up and the launch campaign structure can be part of the Private Label process; optimisation and ongoing management are provided according to the agreed scope. It isn't automatically included in every project.

Do you guarantee sales or ranking?

No. We strengthen research, content and advertising; sales, ranking, ACOS and ROAS depend on market conditions and Amazon's systems and can't be guaranteed.

Is Brand Registry required for Private Label?

It isn't required to sell, but it's generally needed for features such as A+ Content, Stores and brand protection tools. Eligibility and the process are covered on our Amazon Brand Registry page.

Can an existing Private Label brand use this service?

Yes. For existing brands we can support specific areas such as refreshing listings and content, keyword and PPC optimisation, or researching new products.

Can I get a GTIN exemption for a product without a barcode?

In some cases. Amazon allows exemption requests for some branded products without barcodes, where the brand is permanently on the product or packaging. Exemptions are granted per category and brand and are Amazon's decision; FBA products still need FNSKU labels.

Can I use the Vine programme?

Where eligible. Amazon Vine depends on conditions Amazon sets, such as brands in Brand Registry and products sold through FBA with few reviews, and may not be offered in every marketplace. Neither Sobbe nor the seller controls the content of reviews.

How is Private Label Consulting different from the A-to-Z Launch?

Private Label Consulting focuses on research, positioning and growth and is shaped around the areas you need. The A-to-Z Product Launch is a structured programme for a ready product, from the company to the first ad campaign.
